After arriving from Israel, Aviram together with his wife Yorit and daughter Osher initiated the Sadhana Forest project in 2003 and settled on the land to build a community dedicated to planting of trees. In a short period, Sadhana has developed into a bustlingeco-friendly settlement with thatched houses, wind pump, solar powered LED lighting, compost toilets and vegan kitchen withenergy efficient stoves. Some 18000 indegenous trees have been planted so far on 70 acre mostly eroded land. More than 150young volunteers from all over the world live in the settlement at any given time planting trees, building bunds and experiencing a simple ecologically conscious life.
